Denby Ware and Gum Blossom
I found this little Denby ware jug at an op shop (pre lockdown) and ever since then I have become quite interested in the beautiful organic shape of it.
I don't know what design it is called within the range but I may see if I can track it down and see what other items go with it. Its a joy to paint!
And of course my favourite gum tree - the Dollar Gum - offsets it beautifully.
I have called this one gum blossom based on the design I used in the background "fabric" in case you are wondering...
Alla Prima
My earlier paintings were mostly worked with a glazing technique which involves thin layers over a period of days and weeks. I love the glow that this technique presents however I wanted to try painting with more thickness and texture to the paint so I have been staring to complete single sitting "Alla Prima" techniques.
I am painting from Life so this involves a single sitting before the flower wilts and changes form.
Its very enjoyable pushing the paint with the brush and plan on doing quite a few more of these!
