Tulips grown locally from Silvan where the Tulip festival is held every year to mark the beginning of Spring.
Behind, the beguiling form of Monstera deliciosa - the Swiss Cheese plant winds its way around the canvas leading the eye from one form to the next. A favourite indoor plant in my studio.
The fabric a Vintage swathe from an artist friend, blue and white stripes from a Mediterranean tablecloth.
My current body of Still Life works are considered vignettes that are set up to lead the eye across the canvas. I allow this flow to happen with both organic and found forms, a mix of my vintage and current fabric collections with flora that is grown locally to my studio.
These vignettes are arranged in my mountain studio and are painted under natural light.
They are a concoction of my carefully curated finds and flora that is found in my local environs.
Our home is situated in a large flower growing area near Melbourne and we are surrounded by National parks with forests of tall trees. An endless supply of inspiration for a still life painter!
